At Stonegate we use the recommended Curriculum from the Diocese \u2013 Understanding Christianity. We supplement this curriculum by adding two units a year which teach our children about other world faiths.<\/p>

The curriculum is taught using our indoor and outdoor environment and children are provided with a range of opportunities to demonstrate their understanding and skill progression.<\/p>

We use the wider curriculum to ensure that children have a wider understanding of the world around them. It addresses key Christian Values such as tolerance, understanding and respect and allows the children to engage fully in a dialogue about these important issues. This year we have added a newsdesk to provide our children with a window into the wider world.<\/p>

We work on a two year cycle due to our mixed aged classes. We are currently on Year 1 of 2 – 2024\/2025.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The skill development in these units is monitored using assessment statements developed from the Chris Quigley Essentials Curriculum.<\/p>

We are developing an assessment system to show children\u2019s progress over a two year Milestone period (Year 1\/2, Year 3\/4 and Year 5\/6) in their ability to:<\/p>

  • Reflect<\/li>
  • Understand values<\/li>
  • Understand beliefs and teachings<\/li>
  • Understand how beliefs are conveyed<\/li>
