About our School

front of school

Stonegate Church of England Primary School is a small, rural, Church of England Voluntary Controlled school for boys and girls aged 2 to 11.

The school, established in the mid-nineteenth century, is situated in the village of Stonegate in the heart of the beautiful High Weald of Sussex.

There are currently 110 children at the school, coming from the village and the surrounding area.

As well as fulfilling our legal obligation to deliver the National Curriculum to our children, we offer a wide range of enriching activities to develop the whole child and enable each one of our pupils to fulfil their unique potential.

In September 2020, we opened an on site Pre-School to further support our community. The Pre-School is open during term time between 8.45 and 3.15.

Pupil behaviour is rarely a cause for concern. Visitors and visited alike remark on the politeness and consideration shown by our children.

Our pupils, parents, staff and governors were asked to identify the most important Christian values in school. They chose the following: Friendship, Compassion, Resilience, Respect, Trust and Courage. Children are rewarded for showing any of these qualities around school.
