About our School
Stonegate Church of England Primary School is a small, rural, Church of England Voluntary Controlled school for boys and girls aged 2 to 11.
The school, established in the mid-nineteenth century, is situated in the village of Stonegate in the heart of the beautiful High Weald of Sussex.
We have capacity for 110 children at the school, coming from the village and the surrounding area.
As well as fulfilling our legal obligation to deliver the National Curriculum to our children, we offer a wide range of enriching activities to develop the whole child and enable each one of our pupils to fulfil their unique potential.
In September 2020, we opened an on site Pre-School to further support our community. Little Acorns is open during term time between 8.45am and 3.15pm.
Our pupils, parents, staff and governors were asked to identify the most important Christian values in school. They chose the following: Friendship, Compassion, Resilience, Respect, Trust and Courage. Children are rewarded for showing any of these qualities around school.
From September 2025 the school went into partnership with Pioneer Federation and hope to federate with them by July 2026. The Pioneer Federation consists of 8 Primary Schools. (East Hoathly Church of England Primary School, Chiddingly Primary School, St Mary the Virgin Church of England Primary School, Park Mead Primary School, Nutley Church of England Primary School,Groombridge St. Thomas Church of England Primary School and Framfield Church of England Primary School).
