PGL - 2024
The children from Years 5 and 6 attended PGL at Bawdsey Manor. This is a beautiful site on the Suffolk coast with a large number of activities for our to explore and enjoy.
Super Sunday
After leaving our parents at 1330, the children had an extremely calm coach ride to Bawdsey. Arriving at 1700, the children unpacked in their en-suite dormatories and had a traditional carb loaded dinner - at least 4 different carb groups was the norm.
Evening activities consisted of the children playing a range of team sports including, football, jumping rock, paper scissors, human battle ships and target frisbee. This was a great energy release following a long journey.
Manic Monday
After a night of excitement for some, the children had a breakfast of bacon, beans, toast, hash browns and cereal. This gave them the energy to tackle the days events of rifle shooting, Jacobs ladder, orienteering, raft building and a campfire (fuel top ups of pizza, fish fingers, potato products, lovely pasta and soup avec bread roll).
All leaders have been incredibly impressed at the determination from every child today and how they have taken part in every activity with too many successes to mention. Also, well done to Mrs Bull and Mrs Brown for 'taking a dip' during the raft building - not many adults would have fancied these murky waters!
Children after this busy day, and hot Sunday evening, were rightly tired and settled down to sleep around 9.45pm. WOW! What a Monday!
Terrific Tuesday!
After a much better night's sleep the children munched down the cooked breakfast, with cereal and yoghurt, like pros and were ready for their morning activities.
This morning we have enjoyed:
- Sensory Trail
- Giant Swing
- Zip Wire.
Lunch consisted of jacket potatoes, choice of fillings and salad. There was a breaking of Stonegate residential records for salad on plates but this came at the same time as the record for dodging salad on plates - you win some and lose some.
Gift shop was a success - high quality gifts and a restock of sweets!
The afternoon sessions consisted of:
- Abseiling
- Giant Swing
- Problem Solving and Zip Wire
Really impressed at the teamwork and how the children are supporting each other on all of the activities.
Beach Party
Final night means only one thing - Beach Party. Armed with the boombox, sweets and cold drinks, we spent a wonderful evening on the beautiful beach of Bawdsey. Children chatted, played sports, explored the coastline for special shells and rocks and even joined Mrs Bull by dipping their toes in the water. A truly lovely way to spend time with their friends.
Wicked Wednesday
Following a restful night (yes really) the children packed up their rooms, changed their beds and even picked up their own sweet wrappers.
Following breakfast of sausage, beans, hash browns, mushrooms, toast and a selection of 4 cereals we embarked on our final activities:
- Archery
- Giant Swing
- Abseiling.
Competition was high, courage was shown and fun was had by all - even the teachers!
