Sports Funding
Primary School Sports Funding The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for each academic year to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and has resulted in money going directly to primary school Head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for children.
All schools will receive a lump sum of £8000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil for three academic years. This was increased by an additional amount of £8,000 from the 2017 / 18 accademic year.
The purpose of the funding Schools have to spend the funding on improving their provision of PE and sport but they have the freedom to choose how they will do this.
Swimming at Stonegate
Each year we take the whole of KS2 swimming at a local pool. Each class are split into 3 ability groups and are coached by an external swimming instructor at their level. This supports the children in making as much progress as possible.
77% of the Year 6 who left school in the summer of 2024 could swim 25 metres.
